All-Pro Science and Tony Gonzalez Add Tampa Bay Ray player, Brandon Guyer, to TeamAPS Athlete Roster
Brandon Guyer, outfielder for the Tampa Bay Rays, signs athlete endorsement contract with Tony Gonzalez's All-Pro Science to assist in healthy training as he moves up to the majors.
IRVINE, CA, September 11, 2011 /California PR News/ -- All-Pro Science, Inc. (APS) announced that it has added MLB's recently called up Tampa Bay Ray outfielder Brandon Guyer, to its professional athlete endorser roster known as TEAM APS. TEAM APS features diverse athlete talent, with well-known names within the NFL, USA Softball, MMA, MLS, LFL, as well as the MLB. With the addition of Guyer, the APS roster has increased to 56 athletes that trust APS all natural supplements.
Beginning his career as an all-time career home run hitter (13), in high school, Guyer had 23 RBI, a .483 batting average and was walked 19 times as a senior. At the University of Virginia, as a junior, Guyer batted .370 with a team-high eight home runs, 51 runs scored and 84 hits as well 43 RBI, earning him First-Team All-ACC honors. Following the 2007 season Guyer was selected in the fifth round of the Major League Baseball Draft by the Chicago Cubs.
The 25-year-old Guyer, named the Chicago Cubs Minor League Player while at the double-A Tennessee Smokies, batted .344 with 13 homers, 39 doubles and 58 RBI. He was named a Topps Double-A All-Star following the season. After moving to the Rays from the Cubs system during an off-season trade, Guyer has been challenging opposing pitchers in triple-A. This year, as a Durham Bull, Guyer batted .356 with six home runs and 18 RBI in 28 games.
On May 5, 2011 Guyer was called up to the "Big Show" after his success with the Durham Bulls. In his first major league at bat, he hit a 2-run home run off of Baltimore Orioles pitcher, Zach Britton. With this, Guyer became the second player in Ray's history to hit a home run in his first career at-bat. Chaim Bloom, Assistant Director of Minor League Operations, believes the future looks bright for Guyer, "We plan to get Brandon time at all three outfield positions—he absolutely has the foot speed to play center. His profile is very intriguing in that he's shown that he can impact all aspects of the game. He's an asset defensively; he runs really well and is a great base stealer; he makes a lot of contact, and he also has the size and strength to hit the ball out of the ballpark. Players like that can help you win in many different ways."
