CHOC Follies XV to Hold Auditions For "Christina and the Crystal Ball, a Cinderella Story for the Social Net Set"

Orange County singers, dancers and thespians line up to audition in support of CHOC Children's

IRVINE, CA, October 31, 2011 /California PR News/ -- This year, CHOC Follies XV, the annual original musical comedy production that raises funds for CHOC Children's, will present "Christina and the Crystal Ball, a Cinderella Story for the Social Net Set," a hilarious spoof on the classic fairy tale with a modern online twist! Over the past 15 years, The Follies has netted more than $5 million dollars for the hospital.

"This year promises to be another fabulous production, and we would love to have you join in and be part of the fun - so, consider this your official casting call," said Gloria Zigner, founder and executive producer. " As with all prior CHOC Follies shows, we do hold auditions - but don't panic! We don't expect all of our cast members to have 'show-biz' or even singing and dancing experience. The auditions are 'group' auditions, and are very low-key and simple. Our philosophy is 'if you can walk, you can dance; if you can talk, you can sing!' At least that's the case in our show because we know that director John Vaughn and his amazing team will make everyone look and sound great - just as they have for the past 14 years!"

However, for those who do have some special talents and would like to audition for singing or dancing roles, solo auditions will be held immediately following the group audition. Solo auditions should be no more than 60 seconds long. Community members auditioning for a solo spot need to bring their own sheet music or background tape.

Auditions will be held at:
The Island Hotel (free valet parking)
690 Newport Center Drive, Newport Beach:
Saturday, November 5, 2011, 10:00 a.m.

CHOC Follies is a fundraiser for CHOC Children's. Each cast member must make a commitment to raise a minimum of $1,000, either in sponsorships or in ticket and/or ad sales. This year's contributions will support the development of The Voice , a project of the Ryan Seacrest Foundation. This will be a multi-media interactive center in CHOC's new patient care tower, which is scheduled to open in 2013. CHOC is proud to be the first hospital on the West Coast to have The Voice , providing patients with another outlet for healing.

Performances of "Christina and the Crystal Ball, a Cinderella Story for the Social Net Set" will be held in the Robert B. Moore Theatre at Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa, March 29, 30 and 31, 2012.
