Sundance Elementary School Receives $10,000 Donation from Pardee Homes

Mike Taylor, Pardee Homes Vice President of Community Development, presented Lauren Kinney, Sundance Elementary School Principal, with a check for $10,000 for the construction and installation of a digital marquee.

SAN DIEGO, CA, February 01, 2012 /California PR News/ -- Award-winning Sundance Elementary School is the recipient of a $10,000 donation from Pardee Homes, master developer of the adjacent Sundance master-planned residential community. The check was presented to Principal Lauren Kinney by Mike Taylor, vice president of Community Development for Pardee Homes.

The money is earmarked for the construction and installation of a digital marquee to be placed in front of the school.

"It's been nine years since our school opened and we are so excited to have the funds to get a digital marquee," said Lauren Kinney, Principal of Sundance Elementary School. "This will provide another way for us to connect with our families and the community. We are so grateful to Pardee Homes for their support and we are proud to be part of the Sundance community."

The U.S. Department of Education named Sundance Elementary a National Blue Ribbon School based on overall academic excellence in 2011. Sundance was one of 305 schools from throughout the nation honored last year. Principal Kinney was also the recipient of a prestigious educational designation last year when she received the Terrel H. Bell Outstanding School Leadership Award at the 2011 National Blue Ribbon Schools Awards Ceremony. This is the highest honor a principal can receive and Mrs. Kinney was the sole winner in California and one of seven winners selected from throughout the United States.

Sundance is also a 2012 nominee for the California Distinguished School designation and for the eighth year in a row has had an increased API (Academic Performance Index) score.

"We are very proud of Sundance Elementary School and salute them for their recent Blue Ribbon designation." said Mike Taylor, Vice President of Community Development for Pardee. "It is an honor to support this school in whatever way we can. Mrs. Kinney and the teachers at Sundance Elementary have done a stellar job developing a creative and academically successful setting for the children of Beaumont, and in particular those who live in the Sundance master-planned community. We know that the new digital sign will enhance the school in many ways."
